As a Study Scientist, you will work as a key Study Team member in the delivery of customer projects. You will receive all the required training under the guidance of senior members of the Study Team which will allow you to broaden your scientific knowledge alongside developing a wide range of practical laboratory techniques over several different areas and in turn be competent in performing assays across our operations team. Your main responsibility will be in ensuring that the customer projects you work on are performed in the laboratory to the highest possible standard which in turn delivers high quality data to our customers. Once fully trained and your probation is complete, you will participate in our weekend on call rota.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Laboratory Operations
  • Perform a wide range of assays across immunology to a high standard.
  • Mitigate risks of error by identifying problems in documentation, reagent preparation or equipment.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting discussions about risks and errors identified in assay documentation or performance.
  • Set up templates and become competent for end‐point analysis on required equipment.
  • Communicate assay completion and data completion with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with study managers to ensure efficient running of projects (e.g. foresight preparation or request for reagent preparation and aliquoting of customer samples).
  • Documentation
    • Prepare study related documentation (standard analytical procedures, custom laboratory documentation guided by the Study Protocol).
    • Update and maintain Study Records.
    • Contribute to interim data documentation and data presentation for interim discussion.
    • Assist in preparing Study Protocol and report with support from Senior Study Scientist or Study Manager.
  • Data Analysis
    • Independently perform data analysis of a wide range of assays across focused areas with minimal support from senior scientist.
    • Understand the analysis required for each assay and set up data analysis templates independently.
    • Interpret data on assay completion to assess suitability (pass or fail) and discuss points of interest with manager or senior scientist.
    • Perform data integrity checks in conjunction with the study protocol.
    • Maintain high standards of data processing, including appropriate documentation and traceability.
  • Data Interpretation
    • Interpret a range of standard assays.
    • Interpret bespoke assays used in development or optimisation work under senior guidance.
    • Gauge assay performance (good data vs bad data).
  • Training and Development
    • Oversee and coordinate practical training in one of your specialised areas.
    • Oversee and coordinate training for use of laboratory equipment as guided by SOPs.
    • Attend training sessions as suggested by senior study scientist and/or management team.
  • Compliance
    • Adhere to standard practices as set out by Company's Quality team.
    • Raise deviations and prepare risk assessments when required.
    • Actively contribute to resolving and mitigating identified issues/errors in deviations.
  • Process Improvements
    • Lead on small improvement projects as directed from Senior Study Manager or Department Director.
    • Contribute ideas on lab processes in support of continuous improvement culture.
    • Participate in larger, company‐wide improvement projects.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A relevant BSc or MSc in an immunology related area or at least two years' experience in a relevant setting (drug development, previous CRO, etc.).
    • Self‐motivated, highly organised, multi‐tasker who can work independently and to a high standard.
    • Excellent communicator capable of fostering relationships externally and internally at all levels.
