Roughan O’Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit talented principal/senior railway permanent way engineers for permanent positions in our expanding railways team.

Background
As a member of our railways team, you will work across a range of projects, including light rail, heavy rail and railway asset management. Our clients include Iarnród Éireann, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, local authorities and leading contractors in the implementation of railway schemes.

Essential Requirements
- An honours degree in railway or civil/structural engineering (Minimum Level 9 qualification in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
- Principal Railway Permanent Way Engineers require 10+ years’ post qualification experience in design and implementation
- Senior Railway Permanent Way Engineers require 5 to 10 years’ post qualification experience in design and implementation
- Proficiency in track alignment design and associated software/technologies
- Detailed knowledge of vignole and trough rail technology
- Detailed knowledge of permanent way design in street and ballasted track, including permanent way elements, earthworks and drainage
- Working knowledge of Irish and UK design standards in the field of railway design
- Strong design skills
- Excellent attention to detail and quality design outputs
- Excellent analysis skills
- Experience of track inspection and assessment
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Proven project management skills and experience
- Comfortable working in a busy environment with tight deadlines
- Flexible, motivated and focused
- Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status with a recognised professional body
- Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
