Senior leadership role within a UK bank undergoing major technology transformation. This is a strategic, high-impact position owning the technology risk agenda across the organisation, with direct exposure to ExCo and Board Risk Committees.
You will define and lead the IT Risk strategy, ensuring risk is properly understood, challenged and embedded across all technology activity, particularly large-scale change programmes. This is not a passive oversight role. You will actively influence outcomes, challenge delivery, and ensure risk is managed in a pragmatic, commercially aware way.
Key responsibilities- Own and deliver the IT Risk Management strategy aligned to business and technology objectives
- Act as the senior technology risk voice into ExCo, Board Risk and senior governance forums
- Oversee risk across major IT and transformation programmes, ensuring effective mitigation and visibility of emerging risk
- Embed and maintain the operational risk framework across all technology functions
- Lead GRC capability, including implementation and optimisation of tooling and reporting
- Own KRI design, reporting and thematic risk insight across technology
- Drive high-quality risk forums and governance, ensuring clear articulation of risk, impact and action
- Build and lead a high-performing technology risk team and partner network
- Provide robust challenge to senior stakeholders across engineering, change and operations
- Handle complex escalations and ensure effective resolution of technology and organisational risk issues
What matters
- Proven experience leading technology or IT risk within a regulated financial services environment
- Strong understanding of IT, engineering, development and operations, with the ability to challenge effectively
- Deep experience of risk frameworks, controls, GRC and operational risk
- Track record of overseeing risk within large transformation or change programmes
- Ability to operate at senior level, influencing C-suite and Board stakeholders
- Commercially aware, pragmatic approach to risk and control
- Experience building and leading teams and driving capability at scale
