RPG Developer - Banking
An exciting opportunity opens for and RPG Developer to join a leading international Bank as they redevelop their Core Banking system. The successful candidate will work on critical core banking systems within a highly established financial institution and contribute to a long-standing and business-critical technology estate.
Key Responsonsibilites
- Translate business and technical requirements into clear development solutions and user stories.
- Design, develop and maintain RPG applications in line with established development standards and processes.
- Deliver well-structured, reliable and maintainable code, with a strong focus on quality and testing.
- Investigate application issues, diagnose defects and implement effective solutions.
- Develop a strong understanding of business processes and how they are supported by the core banking application.
- Work collaboratively with other developers, architects and IT specialists to define and deliver new functionality for UKBR development
- Develop technical documents and instructions to accurately represent application design and code
Relevant Experience
- Strong commercial experience as an RPG Developer, ideally within banking or financial services
- Strong knowledge of both fixed-format and free-format RPG
- Experience developing SQL, including standalone SQL and SQL Embedded within RPG applications
- Modern coding techniques eg modules, service programs, activation groups etc.
- Understanding of modern IBM i development practices, including modules, service programs and activation groups.
- Solid knowledge of the IBM i platform and experience using IBM development tooling such as Rational Developer for i
- Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles.
- Experience in Agile environments
- Exposure to Citrix administration and vulnerability management would be advantageous
