Working closely with Engineering, Architecture and Business stakeholders, you will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of complex software solutions, ensuring product requirements are translated into clear technical deliverables and successfully implemented. You will play a key role in driving the delivery of scalable, high-performance platforms, with a particular focus on Back End services, API integrations, messaging technologies and enterprise implementations.

As a Technical Product Owner, you'll take ownership of product delivery from discovery through to implementation, ensuring engineering teams have the clarity and direction needed to deliver high-quality software at pace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the delivery of strategic software initiatives across Java-based enterprise platforms and distributed systems.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into detailed technical epics, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with Engineering, Architecture and QA teams to ensure solutions are technically sound, scalable and aligned with the overall product roadmap.
  • Manage and prioritise the product backlog, balancing business priorities, technical debt and platform enhancements.
  • Drive Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
  • Coordinate the successful implementation and delivery of software releases across multiple engineering teams.
  • Work alongside developers to clarify technical requirements, integration points and delivery dependencies throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Support the delivery of enterprise integrations, APIs and event-driven solutions using technologies such as Kafka and RESTful services.
  • Track delivery progress, manage risks and proactively remove blockers to ensure successful implementation.
  • Collaborate with Implementation, Client Delivery and Operations teams to ensure smooth production releases and client onboarding.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, delivery plans and implementation roadmaps using AI tools to improve efficiency.
  • Monitor delivery performance and continuously improve Agile processes and engineering best practices.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, particularly within Java ecosystems, cloud-native development and distributed architectures.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Java application architecture and modern software engineering principles.
  • Experience working with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale Back End platforms, APIs, microservices and enterprise integration projects.
  • Strong understanding of software implementation, release management and end-to-end delivery life cycles.
  • Experience working closely with software engineers, solution architects and DevOps teams throughout the SDLC.
  • Excellent knowledge of Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong experience using Jira and Confluence to manage product backlogs and delivery.
  • Ability to challenge technical solutions, understand architectural trade-offs and communicate effectively with engineering teams.
  • Experience delivering cloud-based applications (AWS, Azure or GCP) would be advantageous.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and modern software delivery methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve delivery, documentation and team productivity.
