At Rothschild & Co Wealth Management, we offer an objective long-term perspective on investing, structuring and safeguarding assets, to preserve and grow our clients’ wealth. We provide a comprehensive range of private wealth services to some of the world’s wealthiest and most successful families, entrepreneurs, foundations and charities. In an environment where short-term thinking often dominates, our long-term perspective sets us apart. We believe preservation-first is the right approach to managing wealth.

We formed the Business Applications Team in 2023 to support the UK Wealth Management (WMUK) business to define, build and run new solutions to meet rapidly evolving business needs and support business growth. As part of this, we have created the Data & AI Platform as an area of key importance. WMUK is strengthening its data foundations so that analytics and AI can scale safely and reliably. Our target is to build an approved analytical and AI source (“system of insight”) while core platforms remain the systems of record.

Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Product Lead to join our Data & AI Platform team function to drive the definition, prioritisation and delivery of Gold Data Products and the product discipline required to run the WMUK Data Platform as a reliable service. This role is accountable for turning “data foundations” into tangible outcomes: curated, certified datasets and semantic models that are easy to consume, have trusted definitions and pass the required data quality checks. This is critical to building trust in numbers and enabling AI solutions that are accurate, explainable and scalable.

In this role, the successful candidate will need to be pragmatic and able to balance business needs and complexity. The candidate will work closely with stakeholders across WMUK and partner with central and federated teams across the wider group to ensure that the data products published are consistent, maintainable and supportable. The role is based in London, but occasionally you may be expected to travel to other locations as the role demands.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the roadmap for the Data Platform within WMUK, aligning to WMUK priorities and the wider Data & AI strategy. Establish a clear, repeatable prioritisation approach so that the most valuable data products are delivered first and trade-offs are visible and understood.
  • Data Governance: Work closely with established group teams to adopt and enforce approved data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. Ensure the platform and Gold products support safe AI adoption by preventing misuse patterns.
  • Product Development: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Gold Data Products and ensure Gold products are designed to remove complexity for consumers. Partner with engineering and SMEs to deliver the Bronze/Silver/Gold progression into Fabric Lakehouse ensuring the platform is an approved analytical and AI source.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging feedback loops and performance metrics to enhance solution operations, data product quality, and AI product performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with central and federated Data Platform and AI teams to ensure standards are met and that WMUK delivery aligns with wider WAM direction. Ensure the data product roadmap and delivery status are clearly communicated to stakeholders, including concise updates for regular reporting. Work effectively with teams across the division and group in geographically dispersed locations.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in Private Banking or Wealth Management desirable.
  • Proven experience leading data product delivery, including roadmap ownership, prioritisation and delivering consumption-ready products.
  • Strong understanding of modern data platforms and the full delivery lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of the tools and technologies used in the data and AI arena.
  • Experience enabling data-driven decision-making in business workflows.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams (data engineers, analysts, business SMEs).
  • Experience with data integration and migration.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to interact professionally with the full spectrum of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, determined and focused to get the job done properly, using their own initiative when a situation demands it.
  • Process-oriented with strong management skills, and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization with high levels of technical complexity.
  • Detail oriented yet pragmatic and able to balance conflicting and changing demands.
  • Ability to learn quickly with a “can do” attitude to turn challenges into opportunities.
  • Effective communicator who can adjust communication style to fit the audience and message, providing timely information and encouraging the open expression of diverse ideas and opinions.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to develop initially ambiguously defined needs into real solutions.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of how Technology can be a differentiator.
  • Emotional and cultural awareness in an international, distributed organisation.

One reason for the long-term success of our business is the importance we place on being principled. It is this belief that drives both the way we work with our clients and the way we hire, manage and develop our people – and we look for the same qualities from them in return. Our teams reflect the diverse needs of our clients, businesses and the markets we operate in around the world. We value, and seek to maintain, an eclectic mix of skills and backgrounds – encouraging everyone to come together to share their perspectives for the good of each other, the business and our clients.
