Overview of RoleRothschild & Co is the largest and most experienced independent debt advisory team globally, with over 50 dedicated debt professionals in London and over 200 globally. We have advised on over 3,000 advisory and restructuring assignments totaling over $2.3 trillion of debt in the last 10 years. Our deep understanding of financial markets, the high volume of transactions we advise on, and our unrivalled network of sector and financing specialists in 40 countries, provide clients with a comprehensive perspective to achieve their strategic goals.
We provide impartial, expert advice to our core client base of large and mid-sized private equity investors, non-investment grade corporates, families and entrepreneurs across Europe. We design and execute strategic M&A and financing solutions to help our clients reach their goals, acting as a trusted partner, taking a long-term and independent view on the challenges they face. The role will include advising on bank clubs, syndicated bonds and loans, private credit/unitranche, subordinated capital (holdco PIK, pref) and other esoteric sub-investment grade structures (for example, royalty financings across various sectors).
Responsibilities- Be an integral part of deal teams by participating in all aspects of financing transactions from strategy through to execution.
- Assist in devising financing strategy in light of client’s strategic objectives, across various debt product options.
- Assist in drafting key marketing materials to effectively present the client’s credit story and key financing objectives (i.e. lender presentations, financial models, financing RFPs).
- Undertake financial modelling, including LBOs, debt capacity, covenant analysis, ratings modelling.
- Communicate and co-ordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. clients, third party advisers, lenders).
- Review and negotiate term sheets, facilities agreements, bond indentures and offering memoranda, commitment letters and other debt documentation.
- Support the wider team’s business development and marketing initiatives.
- Contribute content to client pitch or advice books by conducting ad-hoc analysis.
- Research relevant industries and market trends, optimising various sources of information.
- Update and maintain market databases, regular market updates and credentials.
- Degree or equivalent: 2:1 or above.
- ACA (or equivalent) qualified: first time passes (distinct advantage, not essential).
- Prior experience in an advisory or investment banking role.
- Proven quantitative and analytical skills to develop financial models and valuations with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis.
- Ability to build effective relationships internally between individuals, teams and across lines of business and different geographies.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects in an extremely fast paced environment to meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to communicate clearly as well as persuade and influence others.
- Knowledge of fundamental financial principles and experience of applying these.
- Knowledge of the European leveraged debt market and key debt instruments (e.g. bank debt, syndicated bonds and loans, private credit, structured/subordinated capital).
- Effective relationship building skills with multiple stakeholders internally and externally.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Aptitude for ongoing personal and professional development.
