WMUK Fund Investment Team
A vacancy has arisen for an individual to support the Head of Fund Investments in UK Wealth Management. The Head of Fund Investments, reporting directly to the Co-Heads of Investment, is accountable for the sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring of all open-ended and closed-ended funds which are managed by third parties but held in discretionary R&Co WM UK model portfolios. Today, R&Co WM UK invests discretionary capital in Funds managed by around 30 different third-party managers, across over 50 different legal structures, and hundreds of share classes.
Overview of role
We are currently looking to add a Fund Research Analyst as part of the Fund Investments team. A successful candidate will support all of and ultimately lead some of R&Co WM UK’s primary research activity, from idea generation through to full due diligence, as well as serve the same function for ongoing monitoring of existing third-party fund investments. The role will also require regular engagement with the Co-Heads of Investment, the Client Adviser teams, as well as many other internal and external stakeholders. The primary focus of research efforts will be on diversifying strategies. These are mainly found in liquid alternative funds such as CTA and Tail Risk strategies. The secondary focus will be on equity long-only strategies with high active share.
Responsibilities
- Deep understanding of the investment cases for the various third-party strategies which R&Co WM UK currently invests in on behalf of clients, including both long only and hedge fund styles.
- Origination and deep due diligence of long only and hedge fund strategies to be added to discretionary portfolios.
- Manage weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual fund research & monitoring cycle tasks / processes.
- Support operational due diligence efforts, both internally conducted and outsourced.
- Liaise with R&Co WM UK client advisers and investment committee regarding the investment cases for existing and prospective third-party strategies.
Desirable experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an investment-focused organization is essential.
- Some experience in a fund selection role is desirable. Will also consider candidates with experience in prime brokerage / capital introduction, or experience working in an investment / research / investor relations function within a hedge fund.
- Working knowledge of derivatives and options strategies.
- CAIA or CFA qualification is a plus.
- Programming or data science experience is a plus.
- High level of writing proficiency and report writing.
