Reports to: Operational Effectiveness and Controls Lead

Team overview: The role sits in the Compliance function

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing monitoring of KYC and dealing / advising on escalations and referrals for higher risk cases or exceptions
  • Support on investigations into suspected fraud cases both on the pensions and mortgage side of the business
  • Support with AML/CTF regulations, sanctions regimes and mortgage fraud regulatory reporting obligations
  • Perform financial crime risk assessments across the insurance, asset and mortgage business focusing on fraud, money laundering and sanctions exposure
  • Produce regular reports and dashboards for senior management including updates to the control effectiveness framework for Compliance
  • Support financial crime-related communications surveillance and alerts generated by Rothesay’s surveillance platform

General responsibilities – applicable to all Compliance Team members:

  • Understanding and complying with the requirements and expectations set out in the Compliance Framework
  • Ensuring you and Rothesay as a whole act to deliver good customer outcomes in line with the requirements of the FCA’s Consumer Duty
  • Maintaining a strong grasp of regulatory change, horizon-scanning and forward-looking activities
  • Providing input into the Compliance Function’s risk management processes, toolkits and annual planning process
  • Observing Rothesay’s Compliance Standards and the PRA/FCA Conduct Rules, remaining fit and proper and notifying the CCO of any material changes in your circumstances
  • Taking personal responsibility for remaining competent for the work you do, proactively managing and recording your professional learning and development

Skills and experience required

  • Expertise in consulting with and advising internal stakeholders preferably with financial crime and fraud risk advisory
  • Experience working in a high-profile financial services environment. This may have been gained within a regulated firm, at a regulator, or in an advisory capacity
  • Strong understanding of the Life Pensions Market or Mortgage lending business and the associated regulatory requirements for such firms
  • Good understanding of key regulatory initiatives (Money Laundering regulations, JMLSG, Customer Outcomes) and the practical application of the Conduct Rules
  • Demonstrable commitment to diversity, inclusion and making a real difference in the communities we live and work in
