An established accountancy practice in Keighley is seeking an Accountant/Bookkeeper to join their team. This role is designed for 25 hours per week (part-time), but applications from candidates seeking a full-time position are also welcomed.
The Role
You will manage a varied portfolio of clients, providing bookkeeping, accounts preparation, financial reporting, compliance, and advisory services. A strong focus will be placed on the effective use of Xero to deliver accurate and efficient support.
This role includes responsibilities up to trial balance and preparing statutory accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping, ledgers, and reconciliations in Xero
- Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Produce management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and financial statements
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, assist with tax computations and returns
- Processing payroll, pensions, and CIS returns is a bonus skill – candidates with payroll experience will be offered a higher salary
- Advise clients on budgeting, cash flow, and financial planning
- Support clients with Xero training and best practice
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience in an accountancy practice environment
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Good understanding of UK accounting standards, VAT, PAYE, and CIS
- Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
Desirable
- AAT/ACCA/ACA qualified or part-qualified
- Experience with construction industry accounting or other cloud-based packages
