Rotherwood Education are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well-supported primary school in Haslingden. This is a full-time maternity cover role for 12 months, starting in February 2026.

- Contract: Full-time, 12-month maternity cover
- Daily Rate: £168.80 - £215.68 (depending on experience)
About the Role
You will be working with Year 6 pupils, supporting them through a crucial academic year with a focus on progress, confidence, and SATs preparation. Until SATs, you will teach the class in the afternoons, with the Assistant Headteacher covering mornings. During mornings, you will support across other Year 6 classes and may occasionally cover in other year groups. Some shared planning responsibilities will be required.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher who enjoys collaborative working and thrives in a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences
- Providing targeted intervention in English and/or Maths
- Supporting SATs preparation and pupil progress
- Assisting with behaviour management and classroom organisation
- Supporting pupils with a range of needs, including SEND and EAL
- Contributing to assessment and progress tracking where required
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have recent experience in Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
- Be confident with SATs content and expectations
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management and classroom presence
- Be flexible, proactive, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Be committed to raising achievement and supporting all learners
