Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for dedicated and enthusiastic SEND staff to join a well-established and supportive Secondary school in the Nelson area. The role is full time, 5 days per week, and due to start in September 2026 and is ongoing.
Position Details:
- Location: Nelson, Lancashire
- Start Date: September 2026 - Ongoing
- Contract Type: Full-time, 5 days per week
- Daily Rate: £95 – £105 per day (dependant on experience)
About the Role:
- Plan and implement learning activities for individuals and groups under the general supervision and direction of the teacher.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and establish supportive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents and carers.
- Provide short term cover for classes to which the Teaching Assistant is normally assigned, when the class teacher is unexpectedly unavailable.
- May be required to undertake intimate/personal care duties, moving and handling, and supporting children with medical conditions and complex needs.
- Assist the delivery of educational and developmental work programmes.
- Support the use of ICT in learning activities.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold NVQ level 2 or above qualification – appropriate to the post (or equivalent).
- Hold Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
- Be confident in planning and delivering creative and inclusive lessons.
- Have experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age and working in a relevant classroom/service environment.
- Have experience of Administrative work.
- Have knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Have experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
- Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people.
- Provide details of last 2 latest references, covering the last 5 years’ work history.
- Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
- Be willing to complete a face to face registration and satisfy several checks.
