Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for dedicated and enthusiastic SEND staff to join a well-established and supportive Secondary school in the Nelson area. The role is full time, 5 days per week, and due to start in September 2026 and is ongoing.

Position Details:

  • Location: Nelson, Lancashire
  • Start Date: September 2026 - Ongoing
  • Contract Type: Full-time, 5 days per week
  • Daily Rate: £168.80 – £215.68 per day (dependant on experience)

About the Role:

  • Teach across the full SEND ability and age range, with specific remit to teach KS3, KS4 and KS5 pupils in different subject areas, maximising pupil potential.
  • The position would suit candidates who have the skills to teach different subjects at KS3, KS4 & KS5 in our SEND school following a Primary curriculum.
  • Work with a team of support staff to deliver effective teaching and learning in a calm and organised space.
  • Bring learning to life through creative, motivating and inclusive learning experiences to ensure strong progress for every child.
  • Set challenging yet accessible learning tasks that stimulate curiosity and engagement.
  • Help pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence, develop regulation and make meaningful academic and personal progress from their starting points.
  • Reflect thoughtfully on their practice, using evaluation to continually improve teaching and learning.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Be confident in planning and delivering creative and inclusive lessons.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Be committed to inspiring young people and improving outcomes for all learners.
  • Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Provide details of last 2 latest references, covering the last 5 years’ work history.
  • Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
  • Be willing to complete a face to face registration and satisfy several checks.
