Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a well-established and supportive Primary School in the Nelson area. The role is full-time, 5 days per week, supporting pupils within a Reception class, and is due to start in September 2026 on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Position Details:
- Location: Nelson, Lancashire
- Start Date: September 2026
- Contract Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:35pm (Monday, Tuesday and Friday), 8:15am – 4:20pm (Wednesday), 8:15am – 4:05pm (Thursday), with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day
- Daily Rate: £80 - £95 per day (dependent on experience)
About the Role:
- Support teaching and learning within a Reception class.
- Deliver and reinforce phonics interventions and small-group learning activities.
- Support pupils in developing early reading, writing, communication and numeracy skills.
- Work closely with the class teacher to prepare resources and maintain an engaging learning environment.
- Observe, monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
- Promote positive behaviour and support pupils' social and emotional development.
- Establish supportive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents and carers.
- Support the use of ICT in learning activities.
- Assist with personal care requirements where necessary and contribute to the safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Hold Level 2 or equivalent qualifications in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
- Have sustained and demonstrable experience delivering phonics support, with a strong understanding of early reading development and phonics schemes used within primary schools.
- Have experience supporting children within an EYFS or Reception setting.
- Have a good understanding of the EYFS Framework and child development.
- Be confident supporting pupils with a range of learning needs and abilities.
- Be committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
- Provide details of the latest two references, covering the last five years' work history.
- Possess a current DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one as part of the registration process.
- Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy all relevant compliance checks.
