Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting EBD students. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and ready to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, and more.
About the role:
- As a Teaching Assistant- Behavioural Support, you will be working closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to support their learning, behaviour, and emotional development.
- You will work under the guidance of teaching staff and SENCOs to help deliver tailored support strategies that break down barriers to learning and promote inclusion.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with EBD.
- Assist with the educational, emotional, and social development of pupils.
- Work closely with teachers to implement personalised support plans.
- Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support pupils with daily routines, transitions, and emotional regulation.
- Help deliver interventions in areas such as literacy, numeracy, or communication.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a positive and consistent role model.
- Monitor progress and feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
The ideal Teaching Assistant- Behavioural Support will:
- Have previous experience working with children with SEND/ EBD (desirable but not essential).
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or communication needs.
- Have a Teaching Assistant qualification- Level 2 or 3 (desirable but not essential).
- Be patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure.
- Show adaptability and a proactive attitude in the classroom.
- Be a team player who can also work independently.
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Be open to training and professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
- Proven track record or relevant school-based experience.
- A current, enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one.
- Relevant references to support your application.
- Willingness to attend a face-to-face registration and complete necessary vetting checks.
