Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting EBD students. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and ready to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, and more.

About the role:

  • As a Teaching Assistant- Behavioural Support, you will be working closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to support their learning, behaviour, and emotional development.
  • You will work under the guidance of teaching staff and SENCOs to help deliver tailored support strategies that break down barriers to learning and promote inclusion.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with EBD.
  • Assist with the educational, emotional, and social development of pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement personalised support plans.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils with daily routines, transitions, and emotional regulation.
  • Help deliver interventions in areas such as literacy, numeracy, or communication.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a positive and consistent role model.
  • Monitor progress and feedback to teachers and SENCOs.

The ideal Teaching Assistant- Behavioural Support will:

  • Have previous experience working with children with SEND/ EBD (desirable but not essential).
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or communication needs.
  • Have a Teaching Assistant qualification- Level 2 or 3 (desirable but not essential).
  • Be patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure.
  • Show adaptability and a proactive attitude in the classroom.
  • Be a team player who can also work independently.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Be open to training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record or relevant school-based experience.
  • A current, enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one.
  • Relevant references to support your application.
  • Willingness to attend a face-to-face registration and complete necessary vetting checks.
