Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Burnley area.
This is a full-time maternity cover position, starting in September 2026, offering an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established school, supporting teaching and learning across the classroom.
While the role is primarily whole class support, you will also provide assistance to one pupil who requires personal care.
Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND would be beneficial.
Position Details
Daily Rate: £90-£95 per day plus holiday pay accrual (dependent on experience)
About the Role
- Support teaching and learning across whole class lessons within a secondary school setting.
- Work closely with the class teacher to help deliver engaging lessons and provide additional support to pupils where required.
- Provide individual support to one pupil, including personal care duties.
- Support pupils with a range of learning needs, ensuring they remain engaged and make progress.
- Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of learning resources and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote pupils' independence and confidence.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
- Support the use of ICT within learning activities.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and carers.
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Hold Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent) in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
- Have experience working with children or young people within an educational or similar setting.
- Have experience supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND would be advantageous.
- Be comfortable supporting personal care when required.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Provide details of the latest two references covering the last five years' work history.
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one as part of the registration process.
- Be willing to attend a face-to-face registration and complete all required compliance checks.
