Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and reliable Site Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive school in the Burnley area. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, and is due to start in September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced site or premises professional to play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment.

Position Details

  • Location: Burnley, Lancashire
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Contract Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, Permanent
  • Hourly Rate: £13.47 – £14.59 per hour (dependant on experience)

About the Role

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the school site, ensuring the premises remain safe, secure and well maintained.
  • Supervise and organise the work of the caretaking and cleaning team.
  • Act as a keyholder, carrying out opening and closing procedures and responding to emergency call-outs where required.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, first-line repairs and basic DIY tasks.
  • Monitor maintenance issues, arrange contractors where necessary and oversee completed works.
  • Ensure the heating, lighting and other building systems are operating efficiently.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the school site and ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Prepare the premises for school events, lettings and extracurricular activities.
  • Monitor health and safety compliance, carrying out routine site checks and ensuring the school meets statutory requirements.
  • Support the management of site budgets, stock and inventory.

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Have previous experience in a Site Supervisor, Caretaker or Premises Management role, ideally within a school environment.
  • Have practical maintenance and DIY skills across a range of building repairs.
  • Have experience supervising caretaking or cleaning staff.
  • Have a good understanding of health and safety legislation and site security procedures.
  • Be organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload.
  • Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Provide details of the latest two references, covering the last five years' work history.
  • Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
  • Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy several compliance checks.
