Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and organised School Business Support Officer to join a welcoming and supportive school in the Burnley area. The role is permanent and full-time, Monday to Friday, working 8:30am – 3:30pm, and is due to start in November 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school administrator or business support professional to play a key role in the day-to-day financial and administrative management of a busy school.
Position Details:
- Location: Burnley, Lancashire
- Start Date: November 2026
- Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)
- Daily Rate: Grade 7 £16.62 – £18.85 per hour (dependant on experience)
About the Role:
- Manage the school's day-to-day financial and administrative functions.
- Process financial transactions, monitor budgets and prepare reports for the Headteacher.
- Develop and maintain effective administrative systems and procedures.
- Support HR administration, including recruitment, personnel records and staff documentation.
- Assist with procurement, service contracts, licences and insurance.
- Reconcile school bank accounts, including School Fund accounts.
- Produce reports and analyse data for the Senior Leadership Team, governors and external agencies.
- Support income generation activities, school lettings and marketing where required.
- Supervise administrative staff where appropriate and coordinate staff cover arrangements.
- Support the implementation of health and safety procedures and ensure compliance with school policies.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience in a school office, finance or administrative role.
- Have experience managing financial processes, budgets and administrative systems.
- Hold, or be working towards, the Certificate of School Business Management (CSBM) or an equivalent qualification (desirable).
- Have excellent organisational, communication and IT skills.
- Be confident working independently and managing a varied workload.
- Have experience using school management systems such as SIMS or Arbor (desirable).
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Provide details of the latest two references, covering the last five years' work history.
- Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
- Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy several compliance checks.
