Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for dedicated and enthusiastic Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant staff to support a year 6 pupil with additional needs in a well-established and supportive Primary school in the Nelson area. The role is full time, 5 days per week, and due to start in September 2026 and is ongoing for 12 months.

Position Details:

  • Location: Nelson, Lancashire
  • Start Date: September 2026 - 12 months FTC
  • Contract Type: Full-time, 5 days per week
  • Daily Rate: £80-95 per day (dependant on experience)

About the Role:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with SEND
  • Support learning activities under the general supervision and direction of the teacher.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
  • Establish supportive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents and carers.
  • May be required to undertake intimate/personal care duties, moving and handling, and supporting children with medical conditions and complex needs.
  • Support the use of ICT in learning activities.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold NVQ level 2 or above qualification – appropriate to the post (or equivalent).
  • Hold Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
  • Have experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age and working in a relevant classroom/service environment.
  • Have knowledge of Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum.
  • Have experience of supporting pupils with SEND and challenging behaviour.
  • Be committed to the safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Provide details of last 2 latest references, covering the last 5 years’ work history.
  • Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
  • Be willing to complete a face to face registration and satisfy several checks.
