Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for 2 dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work on a full-time basis in a supportive secondary school in the Burnley area.

These are long-term positions starting ASAP, initially running through to October half term, with the potential to extend beyond this date for the right candidates.

The successful candidates will have strong previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and will play an important role in supporting key pupils to access learning, develop confidence and make positive progress both academically and socially.

The Role Will Include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support for identified pupils with SEND
  • Working closely with key pupils to help them access the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, adapting approaches to suit individual requirements
  • Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with pupils
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, communication, independence and social development
  • Providing appropriate support with behaviour and emotional regulation where required
  • Working closely with subject teachers, the SENCO and wider school staff to implement individual support strategies
  • Helping pupils remain focused, engaged and motivated within lessons
  • Adapting and differentiating tasks and learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions and other aspects of the school day where required
  • Encouraging pupils to develop greater independence and confidence
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing relevant feedback to teaching and pastoral staff
  • Maintaining appropriate records and communicating relevant information regarding pupils' needs and progress
  • Promoting positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment
  • Supporting safeguarding and the wellbeing of pupils at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have strong previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant, ideally within a secondary school setting
  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Be confident working on a one-to-one and small-group basis
  • Have a good understanding of the barriers SEND pupils can face when accessing learning
  • Be able to adapt their communication and support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
  • Be patient, calm, consistent and resilient
  • Be confident building positive relationships with secondary-aged pupils
  • Have strong communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • Be proactive and able to use their initiative when supporting pupils
  • Have a genuine commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to learning
  • Be committed to safeguarding and the wellbeing of children and young people
  • Provide details of the last 2 references, covering the last 5 years' work history
  • Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of registration
  • Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy several safeguarding and compliance checks

Role: 2 Γ— SEND Teaching Assistants

Location: Burnley area

Setting: Secondary School

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Initially until October half term, with potential to extend

Pay:Β£90–£100 per day, depending on experience and suitability
