Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Technical Officer to join our busy Revenue and Payments Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, professional environment and wants to play a key role in supporting effective service delivery for adults who require social care.

Working closely with the Team Leader, you will help manage daily operations, support staff development, and drive performance across the service.

What you will be doing

  • Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues and customers on complex cases, disputes, and legislation
  • Support the day‑to‑day coordination of team workloads, ensuring priorities and deadlines are met
  • Lead or contribute to service improvement projects, research, and performance initiatives
  • Analyse data and produce management information, reports, and action plans
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and developing staff, including identifying training needs
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, systems, and procedures
  • Monitor and support quality assurance, performance management, and budget control
  • Help develop and improve processes, systems, and communication methods.

What we’re looking for

  • Substantial knowledge and experience in a Revenues, Benefits and Payments environment or similar organisation
  • A detailed and up to date knowledge of Revenue and Payments legislation in relation to Adult Social Care
  • A strong understanding of relevant systems and procedures, enabling the provision of accurate technical and professional advice to staff and customers.
  • Assist in the ongoing maintenance and development of plans, procedures and policies.
  • The ability to deal with complex cases, disputes and complaints.
  • The ability to supervise and support staff providing advice, training, and mentoring as required including the ability to identify the training needs of the work of the team and dependant on the role deliver a schedule of training to staff across the service.
  • To be able to work under pressure, prioritise your own workload, meet tight deadlines and work accurately and with an eye for detail.
  • To be able to develop and promote good working relationships within other staff within the council, customers and external bodies
  • The ability to identify issues with individual items of work or processes themselves and suggest alternative options or solutions.
  • Experience of utilising a range of ICT systems and applications.
