Directorate: Regeneration & Environment. Temporary Fixed Term, Full Time, 37 hours per week. An opportunity has arisen to join Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Network Management Team with 4 new apprentice posts across Drainage, Street Lighting, Public Rights of Way and Parking Services.
- Drainage Apprentice – One apprentice post within the drainage team. Responsibilities: design new highway drainage designs, handle customer enquiries, produce maintenance programmes for existing and new assets, review planning applications to ensure no increase in flood risk.
- Public Rights of Way Apprentice – One apprentice post within the Public Rights of Way Team. Responsibilities: respond to customer reports and complaints, carry out site inspections, conduct enforcement work, provide general administration. Also assist the Definitive Map Officer with legal orders, mapping tasks, and use of mapping systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Parking Services Apprentice – One apprentice post to undertake business support duties for the Council’s Parking Service, processing business activity related to sensitive and confidential information. Under supervision of a Parking Services Team Leader, provide excellent customer service and support.
- Street Lighting, Signs and Amenities Apprentice – One electrical apprentice to work within the streetlighting, signs and amenities delivery team. Gain a Level 3 electrical qualification. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical highway assets, working at height, and learning from experienced street lighting electricians.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has an interest to learn new skills, acquire knowledge in a new discipline within a technical environment. They should have good time‑management and communication skills and be able to work as part of a team. They will also assist within the Highway Asset team and drainage team to contribute to the delivery of these services.
Required Qualifications: 4 GCSE’s at a level 5+ with Maths and English.
