We’re looking for a proactive and community-focused Enforcement Officer to join our dynamic Community Protection Unit. This is your chance to be part of a team that tackles poor housing standards and environmental crime head-on and works to create cleaner, safer neighbourhoods across Rotherham.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Proactively identifying and addressing environmental crimes within target areas of the borough.
  • Delivering both statutory and non-statutory work related to environmental and ASB enforcement, using the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Anti-social behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and Selective Licensing, Licence Conditions under the Housing Act 2004.
  • Leading investigations into environmental crimes with a focus on both enforcement and education.
  • Taking enforcement action and supporting wider intervention activities to improve local environments.
  • Collaborating with Environmental Health Officers and Community Protection Officers to deliver joined-up solutions.
  • Building strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders to drive positive change.

  • Strong teamwork skills, but also confident working independently and managing your own caseload.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Knowledge of housing construction or experience of building is an advantage.
