Support the delivery of culture, creativity and community impact across Rotherham

Rotherham is building on the legacy of Children’s Capital of Culture and investing in a bold new Cultural Development Team. We’re looking for a highly organised, proactive and collaborative Cultural Development Officer to support the delivery of major cultural initiatives across Museums, Theatres, Libraries, Events, Green Spaces, Music, Sport and Leisure.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑paced, multi‑disciplinary environments, enjoys working with diverse partners, and is motivated by helping cultural projects succeed — from early planning through to delivery and evaluation. In this role you will support:

  • Multi‑disciplinary project coordination — bringing together stakeholders and supporting cultural consortiums.
  • Project management support for major cultural development programmes including Creative Learning, Arts Award delivery, consultation and engagement activities, and development of events, venues and large‑scale projects.
  • Administrative and organisational support — allocating work, tracking deadlines, and ensuring smooth delivery across Culture, Sport & Tourism.
  • Performance and data coordination — gathering, analysing and interpreting information to produce management reports and support evaluation frameworks.
  • Compliance and governance — ensuring adherence to Council policies, Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.
  • Budget handling — reconciling cash, supporting procurement and managing small expenditures.
  • Event and meeting support — arranging logistics, preparing papers, producing agendas and minutes, and monitoring actions.
  • Carry out analysis and interpretation of different types of information from a variety of sources, produce management information and prepare reports.

Essential Knowledge & Experience

  • Track record of working with diverse partners and stakeholders to support partnerships, working groups and consortiums.
  • Strong organisational skills and knowledge of project management approaches.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication with varied stakeholders.
  • Experience supervising staff, freelancers and volunteers.
  • Information handling and analysis with accuracy, confidentiality and security.
  • Strong ICT skills — word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, internet and email.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and confident communication.

Desirable Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience working within arts, culture, sport and leisure sectors.

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working available; base location Riverside House.
  • Some out‑of‑hours work may be required to support events and concerts.
  • Enhanced DBS required due to access to the Public Services Network.
  • Some out of hours working may be required to support the delivery of events and concerts as required.

Women, people from Black and Minority Ethnic Communities and Disabled People — groups currently under‑represented at this level within the organisation. Section 159 of the Equality Act 2010 applies.
