Rotherham Council’s Housing Property Services (HPS) has an opportunity for a Compliance Assistant (Business Support Officer) to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s Housing Property Service, supporting the delivery of statutory electrical and lift compliance across our housing portfolio.

The role will sit within the compliance team, providing essential administrative support to help ensure all compliance activities are delivered effectively and in line with legal requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate compliance records, monitoring performance data, and supporting the coordination of inspections and servicing programmes. This will include processing certification, updating systems, liaising with contractors, and helping to ensure all documentation is complete, up to date, and meets required standards.

You will also support the wider team with reporting, tracking overdue works, and assisting with the management of access to properties, including helping to progress no-access cases. The role will contribute to improving processes and ensuring strong audit trails are in place to support compliance assurance. You will report to and work under the direction of the Compliance Support Officer playing a key role in supporting the delivery of a safe, compliant, and well-managed housing service.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of analysing and recording statistical information including preparing data for presentation and reports
  • Experience of using a range of computer applications and ICT including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, internet and email
  • Knowledge and understanding of statutory compliance functions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the use of IT skills to produce reports
  • Experience of direct dealing with members of the public and proven customer care experience
