We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible Caretaker to join our Facilities Services team, supporting a portfolio of Business Centres across the borough. This role offers a varied and rewarding workload, with no two days the same. The successful candidate will travel between sites, undertaking a wide range of caretaking, maintenance, security, and grounds duties to ensure our Business Centres remain safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environments for tenants, visitors, and staff.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 1.00pm. Flexibility is required to attend occasional evening meetings, weekend activities, and respond to emergency situations when necessary.

About the Role
As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of our Business Centres, ensuring buildings and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard. Duties will include:

  • Opening, closing and securing buildings, including key holder responsibilities.
  • Carrying out routine building inspections and compliance checks.
  • Undertaking basic repairs and maintenance tasks, such as minor plumbing, joinery, decorating, fitting fixtures and general handyman duties.
  • Identifying maintenance issues and liaising with contractors where specialist repairs are required.
  • Carrying out grounds maintenance duties, including gardening, litter picking, weed control and maintaining external areas.
  • Assisting with room setups, furniture moves and event preparation.
  • Completing cleaning duties in line with service requirements.
  • Monitoring health and safety standards and reporting or addressing risks appropriately.
  • Responding to emergency situations and ensuring the safety and security of building users.
  • Supporting the overall presentation and operation of the Business Centres.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a hardworking, reliable individual who takes pride in their work and enjoys a hands-on role. You will have:

  • Experience of building, site, or facilities maintenance.
  • Practical skills in carrying out basic repairs, maintenance, decorating and general caretaking duties.
  • Experience of grounds maintenance and gardening tasks.
  • Knowledge of building security procedures and compliance checks.
  • An understanding of Health and Safety requirements and risk management.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively on your own initiative.
  • Experience of working with contractors and tradespeople.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • A positive, proactive and customer-focused approach.

  • Fusion @ Magna
  • Dinnington
  • Matrix

As travel between sites is required on a daily basis, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes would be advantageous.
