We value the diverse perspectives, lived experiences and unique strengths that every colleague brings. We are committed to creating a workplace culture where everyone feels respected, included and able to thrive free from discrimination and bias.

Our focus is simple and powerful: Deliver the very best quality social work practice and place people firmly at the heart of everything we do. We believe every person deserves the best possible support to achieve their best possible outcomes. Through a strengths-based, relationship-centred approach, we work alongside people to help them remain independent, in control of their lives, and connected to their communities.

Across our services, our workforce is talented, passionate and committed. We have strong partnerships with health organisations, the voluntary sector, and our local community, working together to create sustainable, meaningful change.

The Opportunity: We are looking for an Advanced Practitioner with a broad range of skills and experience to work within our Learning Disability team. This is an exciting time to join us. You will help to embed excellent practice, champion our values and support colleagues to deliver consistently high standards. Our work is varied, meaningful and always centred around the person.

As an Advanced Practitioner, you will:

  • Work with adults with a diverse range of care and support needs
  • Manage a smaller, focused caseload involving complex work such as Care Act Assessments, Mental Capacity Act assessments, Court of Protection applications, Section 42 safeguarding enquiries
  • Share your knowledge through supervision, mentoring and on-the-job coaching
  • Support Vocationally Qualified staff, Social Workers, students and ASYE practitioners
  • Provide professional leadership within your team and contribute to day‑to‑day operations alongside the Team Manager
  • Champion reflective practice, learning and continuous improvement within the service.

This is a hands‑on, practice‑enhancing role where you will make a real difference to both the people we support and the colleagues you help to develop.

About You: We are looking for exceptional Social Workers who are:

  • Values-driven
  • Compassionate, strengths‑based and committed to promoting independence and person‑centred outcomes.
  • Skilled and confident, with significant post‑qualification experience in local authority, health or voluntary sector settings.
  • Professionally grounded, registered with Social Work England.
  • Competent or willing to work toward the Advanced Practitioner level of the Professional Capabilities Framework.
  • Ideally hold a current Practice Educator Level 2 (PEPS) qualification, or be willing to work toward this.
  • Knowledgeable with a strong working knowledge of the Care Act, complex safeguarding enquiries, mental capacity and risk assessment, and comprehensive risk management.
  • Supportive and inspiring, able to supervise others, support performance and help embed a positive, forward‑thinking culture.
  • Collaborative; our teams are imaginative, flexible and locally focused—we’re searching for practitioners who bring the same commitment and creativity.

If you are resilient, innovative and dedicated to delivering continually improving outcomes for adults in Rotherham, we would love to hear from you.

Our Support Offer:

  • Professional Growth: Access to the South Yorkshire Teaching Partnership CPC offer, clear practice progression pathways, our launched practice framework, opportunities to develop specialisms, including Practice Educator, Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) and Best Interests Assessor (BIA).
  • Reflective and Supportive Practice: Regular professional supervision, opportunities for critical reflection, supportive managers and colleagues who value continuous learning.
  • Flexible, Balanced Working: Hybrid working model (home and office), flexible working arrangements, a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

We want you to feel supported, valued and empowered as you progress your career with us.

Join Us: If you are ready to take the next step in your social work career—bringing leadership, passion and exceptional practice to a service that is ambitious and constantly evolving—then this role is for you.
