Rotherham Council’s Housing Property Services (HPS) has an opportunity for an Electrical Compliance Officer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s Housing Property Service, supporting the delivery of statutory electrical and lift compliance across our housing portfolio.
The role will involve working within the compliance team to provide technical oversight, carry out inspections, and ensure that all compliance activities meet legal and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and assessing compliance performance, undertaking targeted audits and inspections, reviewing certification, and ensuring that contractors meet contractual, quality, and safety standards.
You will also play a key role in developing and improving compliance processes, supporting assurance reporting, and providing technical advice across the service, including supporting complex cases such as no-access properties. You will report to and work under the direction of the Housing Compliance and Building Safety Manager, contributing to service improvements and ensuring robust compliance arrangements are in place in line with legislative and regulatory expectations.
Qualifications and experience requiredThe successful candidate will have:
- Electrically qualified and approved (Qualified Electrical Technician) is essential.
- Experience of working within a social housing or relevant property maintenance environment including an in-depth understanding of quality control procedures, relevant legal standards and compliance.
- Extensive technical knowledge and experience of working with an electrical environment.
- A base knowledge across all fields of technical risk management and general health and safety.
- Experience of analysing and interpreting complex data.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the use of IT skills to produce reports.
- A commitment to continuous professional development undertaking additional job training and qualifications where required.
This post will have access to the Public Services Network; if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).
