Rotherham Hospice is a charity dedicated to the people of Rotherham, offering specialist palliative and end of life care to our community since 1996. We provide comprehensive, compassionate care through two primary patient services:
- 24-hour, 14-bed Inpatient Service
- 24-hour Hospice at Home Service
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Café & Bistro Cook to join our kitchen team within a refined café and evening bistro environment. The role is focused on delivering beautifully executed dishes from an elevated daytime café menu and a carefully curated evening bistro offering. This includes occasional themed dining events that showcase quality ingredients, thoughtful presentation, and culinary creativity. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for food ordering and stock management, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and exceptional standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Culinary Excellence
- Prepare and cook dishes to a consistently high standard, with strong attention to flavour, presentation, and detail
- Execute an elevated café menu during daytime service
- Deliver a refined, limited bistro menu during evening service
- Contribute to themed dining nights such as Spanish tapas, Mexican cuisine, and seafood-led menus
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and allergen regulations
- Stock Management & Ordering
- Take ownership of food ordering in line with menu requirements and forecasted demand
- Monitor stock levels, rotation, and storage to minimise waste and maintain quality
- Carry out regular stock checks and support effective cost control
- Kitchen Standards & Operations
- Maintain an immaculately clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
- Complete all preparation to support smooth, high-quality service
- Ensure equipment is used and maintained correctly
- Support menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings where appropriate
- Team Collaboration
- Work seamlessly with front-of-house colleagues to deliver a polished guest experience
