We’re seeking a registered nurse to work at our NHS funded hospice under agenda for change terms and conditions, giving you the benefits of working for an NHS Trust plus free parking at our site. We want a passionate palliative care nurse who can truly make a difference to patients and their families, whether they come for complex symptom management or end‑of‑life care.
Our unit is a 10‑bedded, all‑en‑suite hospice with staffing ratios that allow excellent care. Patients can enjoy our private gardens, and a multidisciplinary team—including a medical team, activity coordinator, complementary therapist, and hairdresser—works together to go the extra mile for patients. You will receive regular management, clinical supervision, and a preceptorship package before progressing toward nurse‑in‑charge/coordinator status in a stepped approach to support you throughout the process. Initially, the focus is on orienting you and building confidence in a hospice environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver person‑centred care, including assisting with activities of daily living, assessing symptoms, and administering medication.
- Tailor care to meet patients’ wishes and desires during this stage of their life.
- Participate in the multidisciplinary team to support decision‑making throughout the patient care pathway.
- Support patients and their relatives through this stage of illness/life.
- Assist in good symptom management using various methods.
- Support and train nurse associates and students.
- Maintain high standards of care in accordance with local and national initiatives, such as the Specialist Palliative Care Review and NICE quality standards.
- Maintain Nursing and Midwifery Council registration and adhere to NMC codes of supervision and conduct.
