A4C Band: Band 6

Hours of Work: Ability to work as part of a 7-day service, 8am to 8pm. Although, usual working hours will be Mon-Fri 08:00 - 17:00. Flexible working will be considered.

Directorate: Doncaster Care Group Rehabilitation

Location: Required to work at any location at any time throughout the duration of their contract within the RDaSH footprint, or set out under terms of their contract. Travel outside the RDaSH footprint may also be required.

Accountable to: Clinical/Team Lead

Main duties of the job:

  • To provide specialist physiotherapy assessments over a range of conditions and complexities using advanced clinical reasoning to analyse clinical and non-clinical findings to form accurate physiotherapy diagnoses and prognoses.
  • To manage a clinical caseload, organising this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time with access to expert support as required, both for self and more junior staff, within MDT.
  • To formulate and recommend to others the best course of physiotherapy intervention and/or treatment programmes to meet the agreed goals set with the individual patient/or carer, using evidence-based practice and a wide range of treatment skills and options.
  • To evaluate patient progress, review goal setting and alter treatment programmes as required.
  • To contribute to the safe, timely and appropriate discharge of patients. This may require involvement or taking a lead in discharge planning.
  • To work as an effective member of the MDT.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy. HCPC registered.
  • Desirable: Relevant Master level post-graduate modules, Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), Management/leadership courses.

Experience:

  • Essential: Demonstrable appropriate postgraduate experience in a broad range of areas including adequate relevant experience in the specific clinical specialty, Evidence of relevant CPD, Evidence of community and inpatient working, Experience of working with patients who have fallen and in the care of older adults, Knowledge of current best practice, Experience of supervising junior/support staff, An understanding of the principles of clinical governance, Understanding of professional conduct and confidentiality, Extensive experience of working as part of a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team, Experience of networking within physiotherapy and in the wider Health & Social Care community, Experience in clinical audit, research and effectiveness, Clinical education and development of physiotherapy staff and other members of the MDT.
  • Desirable: Experience of NHS working, Experience in undertaking personal development appraisal, Leadership experience, Knowledge of relevant legislation, eligibility criteria/policies and procedures, Previous use of computer-based data collection system, Experience of research, audit, reflective practice or outcome measures, Experience of working within a respiratory service.

Knowledge:

  • Essential: Awareness of Falls and Respiratory National policies and NICE guidance, Demonstrate clinical knowledge of a broad range of diagnoses and conditions in line with areas of the post, Awareness of relevant clinical guidelines and legislation and their application in practice, Demonstrable knowledge HCPC standard of practice and of professional registration requirements, Understanding of information governance and of the processes for sharing patient information across agencies, Understanding of the issues pertaining to clinical risk management, and ability to formulate plans to reduce risk.
  • Desirable: An awareness of current NHS trends which influence service provision.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Essential: Flexible approach, Able to recognise own limitations and when to seek supervision, Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area.
