A vacancy has arisen within the Logistics department for a Logistics Operative to work across various sites, primarily from the Tickhill Road Site, with a requirement to work across other trust sites within Rotherham, Sheffield and Scunthorpe. Duties will be undertaken on an unsupervised basis, utilising hand-held technology as required.
If you do not already have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant facilities and/or logistics subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 2 apprenticeship qualification relevant to your role. As an apprentice within RDaSH, you will gain experience, learn work-related skills, and obtain all the tools needed to thrive. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation, with around 20% of your working hours spent training or studying, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
Main duties of the job:
- To competently and safely drive a range of vehicles including electrical and/or diesel vehicles pulling loaded and unloaded trailers up to 3.5 tonnes, for delivering and collecting goods and post.
- To be responsible for the day-to-day safety checks and cleaning of any vehicles/equipment used, including the delivery and collection of vehicles for repair and maintenance.
- To accurately complete all records necessary in the operation of the Stores and vehicles/equipment used.
- To assist in the Trust's stores with the safe and accurate receipt and despatch of all types of goods utilising hand-held technology to record delivery and distribution of all deliveries.
- To maintain the stores, associated working areas and the surrounding area in a clean, safe and tidy condition at all times.
- To undertake the sorting, franking, delivery and collection of mail from multiple sites across the Trust.
- To collect and deliver stores, laundry and linens, medical records, diagnostic specimens, pharmacy pouches/boxes, waste and refuse, including both domestic and clinical items, ensuring safe handover to appropriate staff.
- Carry out locking/unlocking and alarming of buildings and sites as instructed.
- Undertake parking patrols on foot at agreed times/days with your line manager.

Person Specification:
- Qualifications: GCSE or Equivalent in English and Maths.
- Skills: Ability to understand and adhere to standards and procedures; ability to work as a team member; ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision; communication skills both verbally and written; good interpersonal skills; good timekeeping and ability to prioritise workload; basic problem-solving skills.
- Experience: Ability to use a computer to input data, send and receive emails, and undertake e-learning; experience of driving light commercial vehicles or towing trailers.
- Knowledge: Basic knowledge of Health & Safety; understanding of manual handling techniques and COSHH regulations; awareness of infection prevention and control principles.
- Additional Requirements: Holds a valid British driving licence; flexible and versatile approach; ability to remain professional and de-escalate challenging situations; ability to carry out a range of manual handling tasks; physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role (e.g. lifting, standing, driving); flexibility to work across multiple sites and adapt to shift patterns, if required.
