Reporting to the Head of Service for Housing and Strategic Assets, the successful candidate will oversee the management of the Council\’s commercial property portfolio. This includes asset valuation, acquisition, disposal, development, and tenant relations. You will be responsible for driving strategic improvements, ensuring robust record-keeping, statutory compliance and developing procedures that support efficient and effective estate management. This post comes with an additional market supplement for two years, with a review after one year, in recognition of the specialist skills required.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to lead the development and continuous improvement of Rother District Council\’s Estates team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering the Council\’s Strategic Asset Management Plan, which underpins our corporate priorities and ensures statutory compliance, income generation, and the delivery of wider social, economic, and community benefits for our residents.,
- Extensive experience in managing commercial property assets
- Professional qualification in estates management (MRICS or equivalent), with evidence of continued professional development

Location and Working Arrangements
This is a hands‑on role requiring some travel across the district, particularly in Bexhill‑on‑Sea, Battle, and Rye. We are seeking candidates who can readily meet with tenants, colleagues and wider stakeholders. The role is based at the Town Hall in Bexhill-on-Sea, with flexible working an option and some scope for remote working.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: £51,753 – £56,393 per annum + £2,907 essential car user allowance. This post comes with an additional £6,000 market supplement. Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
