A well-established independent fire engineering consultancy operating across the UK is continuing to grow its London team. The business delivers complex, high-value fire engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio including large-scale residential, commercial, infrastructure, and masterplan developments. With involvement from early concept through to completion, the consultancy plays a key role in shaping modern fire safety standards and delivering specialist assurance services.

Role Overview

This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced Fire Engineer ready to step into a Principal position. You will take ownership of major projects, provide technical leadership, and act as a trusted advisor to clients. The role also includes mentoring engineers, contributing to business growth, and influencing design at a strategic level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of complex fire engineering strategies in line with UK regulations and performance-based design principles.
  • Take full ownership of projects across all RIBA stages, from concept through to completion.
  • Act as the primary client interface, providing expert advice and building long-term relationships.
  • Oversee and review fire modelling, computational analysis, and technical outputs produced by the team.
  • Provide technical leadership, quality assurance, and peer review across multiple projects.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, supporting team growth.
  • Engage with approving authorities, regulators, and stakeholders at a senior level.
  • Support business development, including bid writing, client engagement, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Remain at the forefront of legislation, guidance, and industry best practice.

Candidate Profile

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng or equivalent) in fire engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering fire engineering solutions across complex projects.
  • Strong leadership and project management capability.
  • Advanced knowledge of UK fire safety regulations and performance-based design.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and act in an advisory capacity.
  • Experience mentoring and leading teams.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to contribute to business growth.
