As an Associate Director – Fire Consultancy, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the strategic growth, operational performance, and technical excellence of the business. You will be responsible for leading complex fire safety consultancy projects, managing client relationships, developing team capability, and contributing to the wider direction of the consultancy.
This role requires a highly experienced and commercially aware fire safety professional with strong leadership capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to oversee multiple projects and teams while maintaining the highest technical and professional standards.
You will work closely with the Directors and senior leadership team to support business objectives, operational planning, resource management, quality assurance, and business development initiatives across the consultancy.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Directors in the strategic leadership and operational management of the Fire Consultancy division.
- Lead and oversee the successful delivery of fire risk assessments, fire safety audits, fire strategies, and consultancy projects across a wide range of sectors and building types.
- Act as a senior technical authority within the business, providing guidance, mentorship, and quality assurance support to consultants and project teams.
- Build, manage, and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring a high standard of client service and communication.
- Review, approve, and sign off technical reports and consultancy deliverables, ensuring compliance with current legislation, guidance, industry standards, and internal quality procedures.
- Support business development activities by identifying new opportunities, developing client relationships, preparing fee proposals, attending networking events, and contributing to strategic growth initiatives.
- Contribute to financial and operational performance through effective project oversight, utilisation management, resource planning, and monitoring team profitability.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, performance management, mentoring, and the professional development of team members across the consultancy.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of company procedures, quality management systems, and operational processes.
- Lead and contribute to internal and external fire safety training sessions, presentations, and CPD activities.
- Remain informed of developments within the fire safety industry, including legislative changes, emerging risks, and best-practice guidance, ensuring knowledge is shared across the business.
- Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety compliance across all activities and areas of responsibility.
- Represent the business professionally in meetings with clients, regulators, contractors, design teams, and other stakeholders.
- Support cross-disciplinary collaboration between Fire Engineering, Fire Risk Management, and Passive Fire Protection teams where required.
- Undertake any other duties, within the post holder’s competence, as may reasonably be required from time to time.
