The Role
This position is suited to an experienced external wall specialist who will take a lead role in delivering complex façade and cladding consultancy projects. You will be responsible for managing technical delivery, supporting project execution, and contributing to the development of the external wall discipline. The role also involves mentoring junior team members and maintaining high standards of compliance and client service. You will work closely with senior leadership while engaging with a broad range of stakeholders across the built environment sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery & Technical Work
Prepare detailed external wall assessments, including risk appraisals and compliance reports in line with current guidance and legislation. Undertake façade investigations such as site inspections, intrusive surveys, and material assessments. Provide technical input across all project stages, from early feasibility through to construction, remediation, and in-use phases. Coordinate with project stakeholders including designers, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliant outcomes. - Client Engagement & Business Support
Contribute to business development through proposals, scoping, and client discussions. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and project partners. Support the growth of consultancy services through high-quality delivery and repeat business. - Technical Leadership
Provide expert input and peer review across external wall and façade-related deliverables. Ensure outputs meet required standards for accuracy, clarity, and regulatory compliance. Stay informed on evolving legislation, guidance, and industry standards related to façade safety and performance. - Team Development
Support and mentor junior consultants and early-career professionals. Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous professional development activities. Assist in building a strong, collaborative, and technically capable team.
Candidate Profile
- Experience & Background
Demonstrated experience in external wall, façade, or cladding consultancy. Background in a relevant discipline such as building surveying, fire engineering, façade engineering, structural engineering, or architecture. Experience working on complex projects across multiple sectors. - Qualifications
Degree-qualified in a relevant subject. Chartered status (or working towards) with a recognised professional institution. - Skills & Capabilities
Strong technical understanding of façade systems, materials, and regulatory frameworks. Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects effectively. Confident communicator with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Commercial awareness and understanding of consultancy delivery. - Personal Attributes
