Role Description:
The Cleaning, Disassembly & Media Bay Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the disassembly, cleaning, and preparation of aerospace components and equipment within a controlled maintenance environment. This role ensures compliance with aerospace industry standards, quality assurance protocols, and health and safety regulations while supervising a team of staff and coordinating cleaning operations to meet production schedules.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Operational Supervision:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the cleaning bay, ensuring optimal workflow and efficient use of resources.
- Supervise the cleaning and maintenance of aerospace components, tools, and equipment according to technical specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor adherence to established cleaning and decontamination processes, ensuring compliance with standards and certifications.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of cleaning technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular training sessions to ensure team members are knowledgeable about cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and industry updates.
Quality Assurance:
- Inspect cleaned components to verify adherence to strict aerospace cleanliness and quality standards.
- Address and resolve any quality issues or deviations, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations within the departments, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement safety improvements as required.
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all team members.
Maintenance and Supplies:
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of cleaning equipment and tools, scheduling repairs or replacements as needed.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and PPE, ensuring availability and compliance with material safety data sheets (MSDS).
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety within the cleaning bay.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cleaning operations with broader production and quality goals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Essential:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a cleaning or maintenance environment, preferably in the aerospace or a highly regulated industry.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment, materials, and techniques used in the aerospace industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH and MSDS requirements.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred:
- 6 years of relevant/technical work experience and 3+ years of leadership experience.
- OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
- Hands-on experience with advanced cleaning technologies such as ultrasonic or vapor degreasing systems.
