ABOUT US
Founded in 2018, Rosslyn is a collection of award-winning specialty coffee shops across the City of London. We set out to create something special: All the high standards and attention to detail of the great Australian café, combined with all the warmth and hospitality of the great Irish pub! Our sites are now amongst the busiest in the world and bring together industry leaders from various fields to represent their work under one roof. We believe that what we do matters. We're a hospitality business built around contributing to everyone we come into contact with — our guests, our team, and our community. We understand that success means more when it's shared, and that when you invest in the people around you, it comes back around. That's why we hire for character first. Skills can be taught — but empathy, optimism, and genuine care for the person in front of you? Those come from within. At the end of it all, what we do is simple: we are nice to people, and we make great coffee.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a busy, high-volume environment in the heart of the City—and one of the rare hospitality roles that respects your evenings—no late nights, ever. You'll report to an Operations Manager or Senior Shop Manager, and lead a team including a mix of Shop Managers in Training, Assistant Managers, and FOH Baristas. Hours: Monday–Friday 06:00–17:30, Saturdays 07:30–16:30. Schedule: 40-hour work-week, shifts no longer than 10 hours. Experience: Specialty coffee experience is welcome, but not essential. If you bring the drive and the care, we'll teach you everything else.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Deliver exceptional hospitality at pace—building genuine rapport with guests to be a part of what might make their day that bit better.
- Lead service on the floor—allocating positions, managing wait times at peak, putting on a show to keep everything dialled in.
- Own the shop's day-to-day operations, from front of house to back of house.
- Train and develop your team, including mentoring your Assistant Manager or Shop Manager in Training to take the lead on business KPI’s.
- Foster open, two-way communication through your leadership with the addition of weekly manager meetings and collaboration with the support team (HO).
- Deepen your own coffee knowledge and be the go-to expert for guests and your team on everything from origin to brew method.
- Keep the shop safe, clean and compliant—overseeing food safety, allergens, health & safety and any maintenance issues.
- Play your part in Rosslyn's wider mission, contributing to the coffee community and the City of London community we operate in.
WHAT WE VALUE
- Empathy — with guests, with teammates, with all we come into contact with.
- Optimism — As a team, we win, or we learn. Regardless, it's all forward momentum. We assume positive intent.
- Pride in the detail — because the 1% improvements are where the magic lives.
- Having each other's backs — a team that holds each other up.
- Continuous improvement — always curious, always growing.
