About the Company

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established precision engineering company based in Surrey, supplying high-quality machined components into a broad range of industries including automotive, agricultural, medical, architectural, leisure and lighting. Operating from a modern 12,000+ sq. ft. facility, the business continues to invest in advanced CNC turning and milling technology, machining components from 2mm up to 250mm diameter. They have built an excellent reputation for quality, long-term customer relationships and investing in both their people and machinery. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their CNC Turning team.

This position would suit either:

  • A skilled CNC Setter/Operator looking to progress into programming.
  • An experienced CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator looking for a long-term opportunity within a modern precision engineering business.

For the right individual, there is genuine opportunity to further develop both conversational and CAD/CAM programming skills. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll take ownership of jobs from setup through to production rather than simply operating machines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming (where experience allows), setting and operating CNC turning centres.
  • Editing and optimising programs at the machine.
  • Producing precision components to tight tolerances.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Setting tooling, offsets and carrying out first-off inspection.
  • Working with a variety of materials including stainless steel, aluminium and engineering plastics.
  • Identifying tooling or machining improvements to reduce cycle times.
  • Working closely with production to meet quality and delivery targets.

What We're Looking For

  • CNC Turning or Milling experience.
  • Confident setting and operating CNC lathes.
  • Able to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
  • Experience editing programs at the machine is desirable.
  • Good understanding of tooling, offsets and inspection.

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Programming experience (conversational or CAD/CAM).
  • Fanuc or Siemens controls.
  • Mill-turn or live tooling experience.
  • Sliding head experience.
  • Engineering apprenticeship or time-served machining background.

What's On Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate depending on experience.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Overtime available.
  • Modern, clean and well-organised machine shop.
