Manual Machinist -- Turning or Milling Hayes, West London Up to £45,000 per annum basic 39 hours per week | Days | Early Friday Finish An established and growing precision engineering company in Hayes is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join its team on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity for somebody who enjoys proper hands-on machining and wants variety in their work rather than producing the same components day after day. As a Manual Machinist or Manual Turner / Miller you will be working across a mixture of one-off components, small batches and repair work, supporting customers across the aerospace and commercial engineering sectors. The Role The position will primarily involve manual turning, although experience with manual milling would also be welcomed. You'll be working with well-maintained manual machinery and equipment, producing and repairing a varied range of precision components. For an experienced machinist, you'll be given the freedom to get on with your own jobs and work independently without somebody constantly looking over your shoulder. Equally, the company is open to somebody who is semi-skilled but has a solid manual machining background, with further training and support available where required. Typical responsibilities for the Manual Machinist / Manual Turner will include: ● Manual turning and/or milling ● Producing one-off and small-batch components ● Carrying out repair and modification work ● Working accurately from engineering drawings ● Setting up and operating manual machinery ● Working with a variety of materials and components ● Checking your own work and maintaining a high standard of quality The suitable Manual Machinist will have: * Ideally, you'll be a time-served Manual Machinist with good hands-on experience using * conventional machinery. * You could be predominantly a Manual Turner or Manual Miller – experience across both is useful, but isn't essential. * We're also interested in hearing from semi-skilled machinists who already have practical manual machining experience and want to continue developing their skills. * Experience inspecting your own work using conventional measuring equipment would be advantageous. Why Join? The company is recruiting due to continued expansion and a growing long-term order book, rather than simply replacing somebody who has left. You'll be joining an established engineering business offering: ● Competitive salary, depending on experience ● Permanent day shift ● 39-hour working week ● Early finish every Friday ● Varied work across one-offs, small batches and repairs ● Well-maintained machinery and equipment ● Freedom and autonomy for experienced machinists ● Training and support where required ● Holiday entitlement ● Company pension ● Sick pay ● On-site parking ● Friendly working environment ● Stable, long-term workload with an expanding engineering business If you're an experienced Manual Machinist, Manual Turner or Manual Miller looking for a stable days-based position where you'll be trusted to use your skills and kept busy with varied work, we'd be interested in hearing from you
