CNC Turner / Machinist Looking for more than just another CNC job? I’m recruiting on behalf of an established precision engineering company looking to add a skilled CNC Turner / Programmer Setter Operator to their team. They’re ideally looking for someone who can confidently set and run CNC lathes, work independently and take ownership of jobs from start to finish. Strong setting ability is the main priority, with programming experience being a big advantage. If you’re a very good CNC setter and want a role where your technical ability is actually valued, this is worth exploring. The Role You’ll be setting and operating CNC turning centres, producing precision components from engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances. You’ll be trusted to take responsibility for: * Machine setup * Tooling and offsets * First-off checks * Adjustments during production * Maintaining quality throughout the job * Programming or editing programs where capable This is not a basic button-pushing role. They want someone who understands machining and can confidently keep jobs moving. What they're looking for ✔ Strong CNC Setter / Operator ✔ CNC turning experience preferred ✔ Fanuc controls highly desirable ✔ Programming or program-editing experience beneficial ✔ Programming experience on either mills or lathes considered ✔ Multi-axis, twin-spindle, sub-spindle or live-tooling experience advantageous ✔ Able to confidently read engineering drawings ✔ Comfortable working to tight tolerances ✔ Good understanding of tooling, offsets and machining processes ✔ Reliable and able to work independently You do not need to be a full offline programmer. The priority is finding someone who is a very capable setter, ideally with programming ability being a strong bonus. Why people join * Stable permanent position * Dayshift working * Varied precision engineering work * Opportunity to work on technically interesting components * Strong engineering environment * Chance to develop programming capability further * Company values skilled machinists rather than basic operators * Long-term opportunity with an established manufacturer Salary * Competitive depending on experience * Candidates with strong Fanuc programming, advanced turning or multi-axis experience will naturally sit towards the top end. What makes this role different? They’re not looking for someone to simply load parts and press cycle start. They want a machinist they can trust to set jobs properly, understand what the machine is doing, make adjustments and keep production running efficiently. If you’re already a strong CNC Turner / Setter and want a role where you can take more ownership and continue developing technically, this could be a very good move
