About the Role

We are recruiting a CNC Machinist for a precision engineering workshop in Birmingham. This is an operator role with technical responsibility — you’ll be running CNC machines, understanding programs, and ensuring quality output every day. You won’t be expected to know how to write full programs from scratch, but you must be able to read and understand CNC programs, spot issues, and make adjustments as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run CNC machines to produce parts to specification
  • Load and run programs, monitor cycles, and identify any issues with machining
  • Make basic offsets and adjustments under your own initiative
  • Work from engineering drawings and setups
  • Maintain quality and accuracy throughout production
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Good understanding of CNC programming logic (even if you’re not writing full programs)
  • 4+ years CNC experience desirable
  • Experience on Hurco machines (programming and operation)
  • Exposure to offline programming tools e.g., Hypermill is a strong advantage
  • Good communication in English — must be able to understand instructions and communicate clearly
  • Punctual, reliable, strong work ethic, and a positive team player

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Grob machines or similar multi-axis CNC machines
  • Some programming experience in addition to operating
  • Experience working in a precision / high-quality engineering environment

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary: (depending on experience)
  • Monday–Friday schedule with predictable hours
  • Immediate start for the right candidate
  • Friendly workshop environment
  • Free breakfast on Friday mornings
  • Opportunity to develop CNC programming and technical skills
  • Experience working with modern CNC equipment
