Overview
Primarily to work in Warehouse Stores, ordering parts, checking received goods against original paperwork, then booking in specialist stock. Ensure correct and checked items are picked and sent out with the Field Service Engineers. Work as part of a team to ensure the department runs smoothly and to pursue continual improvement. Carry out quality checks before transferring equipment to the main workshop. Full in-house training will be provided. In line with Depot multi-skilling practices, there may be a need to work in other departments within the workshop or be involved in the delivery and collection of wheelchairs in the field, when operational requirements dictate.
Key Responsibilities
- Booking in: receive items into the stores department, check them against order paperwork, asset them, and add them to the relevant stock system.
- Picking orders: locate and check lists of items to be used by engineers and book them out of stock.
- Improving processes: work with others, including Wheelchair Services, to improve current processes.
- Stocktake: assist with annual and interim stocktakes as required.
- Stock control: ensure all parts stock used is accounted for.
- Depot maintenance: manage day-to-day maintenance of the workshop and maintain good housekeeping.
- Communication: report any problems to the supervisor.
- Duties alignment: perform duties in line with Company appraisal competencies, including achieving business results, focusing on customers, teamwork, and adaptability to change.
- Perform duties in accordance with all Company policies, procedures, and instructions.
Secondary Duties
- Decontamination: ensure decontamination is conducted in line with MHRA guidelines, with correct quarantining, cleaning, and progression to reconditioning.
- Reconditioning: ensure wheelchairs are reconditioned to a good standard and ready for re-issue.
- Other duties: the role may include other duties as directed by management within your capabilities and skill set.

- Stock checking as required.
- Daily in/out bookings in stores.
- Accuracy of stock records and processes.
Physical Demands
- Moving and handling of equipment and accessories in line with handling guidelines.
- Use of agreed moving equipment as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal staff, prescribers, and service users.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail.
- Word, Excel, and email skills.
- Experience within a company and evidence of working within set quality procedures is desirable.
- Knowledge of Wheelchair services or the public sector is a strong advantage.
- GCSE level or equivalent qualification.
- Full UK driving licence (preferably clean) to assist with deliveries during absences.
