As the Clinical Lead, you will be supported by the Senior Management Team and be a member of the national Clinical Lead Group. You will support the Clinical Director, manage a small complex caseload, lead the local clinical team, and collaborate closely with operational colleagues. The role involves running clinics in Tameside, Oldham, Wigan, and providing clinical leadership at both sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the wheelchair service clinical team.
  • Run clinics in Tameside, Oldham and Wigan.
  • Manage a small complex caseload, coordinating patient care and prescription.
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to team members.
  • Organise workload and manage waiting lists.
  • Ensure patient safety, risk assessment and safeguarding procedures are followed.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety, clinical governance, and information governance standards.
  • Engage with service users, carers, other professionals and the wider NHS.
  • Lead change and continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • State registration with the HCPC.
  • DBS clearance.
  • Minimum 5 years post‑registration experience working with patients who have long‑term or complex medical conditions.
  • Previous experience of wheelchair provision.
  • Experience of managing and supervising junior staff.
  • Experience of team leadership and positive role‑modeling.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to drive Ross Care/own vehicles.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions including weather, bodily fluids, pets and other hazards.
  • Strong IT skills; confident with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of a wide range of medical conditions and their impact on wheelchair prescription.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, legal issues, clinical governance, safeguarding and information governance.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Member of a relevant special interest group such as the Patient Mobility Group (PMG).
  • Experience working within the NHS.
