Senior Business Development Manager – Financials
Join us as a Senior Business Development Manager – Financials at Roskill – A Wood Mackenzie Business Group. Wood Mackenzie is a global data and analytics firm dedicated to enabling decisions across the renewable, energy and natural resources sectors.
Role Purpose
This senior role in the New Business Development team focuses on our Financials customer vertical in Europe. You will own the sales process from start to close, driving significant revenue growth through new logo acquisition.
Main Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed new business sales targets through proactive inbound and outbound development from origination to close.
- Target, prospect, evaluate, and prioritize new opportunities and execute through the sales process to open doors and win deals.
- Collaborate with Lead Management, Sales Development, Marketing and other internal stakeholders to maximize win rates and meet response‑time SLAs.
- Design and execute prospecting programmes to increase awareness of Wood Mackenzie among qualified prospects.
- Engage prospects and customers, attend industry events, and pursue opportunities with the Events, Research and Sales teams.
- Plan and maintain a sales plan for your territory, positioning Wood Mackenzie as a market leader.
- Own all aspects of the sales process – prospecting, qualification, value proposition, negotiation, and closing – ensuring full documentation and handover to Account Management.
- Accurately forecast and manage the pipeline using CRM (e.g., Salesforce, Gong).
- Develop deep understanding of sector and product value to support new business identification and engagement.
- Collaborate with Product, Research, Consulting to shape the product roadmap and support new launches.
About You
- Extensive experience in complex business development, managing deals and influencing strategy.
- Track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets and self‑starter pipeline management.
- Knowledge of energy/commodity markets and analytics industry with awareness of trends and competition.
- Experience selling to large enterprise customers (variable area).
- Advanced negotiation and relationship‑building skills up to C‑suite.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to articulate value propositions.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Willingness to travel regionally as needed.
