We are investing in further strengthening our copper markets research and looking for a Research Director to join our growing team in London. As part of the Metals and Mining Research Unit, the Copper Markets team is responsible for delivering comprehensive research coverage of the global copper markets, covering supply, demand, and pricing. Wood Mackenzie's high-quality copper research provides value to our clients by guiding them through the rapidly transitioning energy sector and assisting them in making the best commercial decisions.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct original quantitative and qualitative research on global copper demand.
- Deliver analysis through the creation of data services, proprietary data, written reports, public speaking, and custom research engagements.
- Project the trajectory of the copper market in the long-term.
- Work closely with members across the commodities, energy, and natural resources business globally.
- Produce regular and timely deliverables about the copper market.
- Develop and publish opinion-rich, thematic Copper Markets related thought leadership content.
- Recognise major Copper Markets trends and engage with senior external and internal stakeholders.
- Be a recognized authority on Copper Demand.
- Monitor the competitive environment to identify threats and opportunities.
- Establish best practice frameworks and mentor analysts.
About You:
- You are degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (Economics, Business, Mining, Geology, Engineering etc.) and have experience in the metals and mining sectors.
- Your previous experience includes generating forecasts for copper demand.
- You understand the big picture, enabling you to analyse and form clear conclusions from various data.
- You have a high understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- You are thoughtful, intellectually curious, and comfortable presenting to public audiences.
- You have a proven track record of fostering strong working relationships and influencing others.
- You are commercially astute and thrive in a collaborative and customer-centric environment.

We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week.
