Join us at Roskill - A Wood Mackenzie Business to lead and manage a team of Technical Sales professionals focused on driving growth opportunities for our Trading offerings across existing customer accounts. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the Trading sector and the ability to influence business outcomes through strategic resource allocation and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership of the Technical Sales function, setting clear strategic direction and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Lead strategic collaboration across internal teams to achieve significant commercial success and drive business performance.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans for specialised sales activities across multiple territories and sectors.
  • Take strategic ownership of resource allocation and optimisation across the function to maximise sales effectiveness.
  • Drive the achievement of sales growth targets through effective leadership and strategic direction.
  • Lead the strategic development of market‑leading understanding of customer value propositions across multiple specialisms.
  • Act as a senior strategic ambassador for the business, driving communication of product enhancements and market developments across the organisation.
  • Provide strategic direction to teams including sales, customer focus, customer solutions, marketing, research and consulting.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to broaden and deepen customer relationships at executive levels across complex sales cycles.
  • Take strategic ownership of customer retention where significant revenue is at risk.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of sector trends, regulation, and competitive landscape across multiple natural resources sectors.
  • Partner strategically with Product and Research teams to shape development roadmaps based on market intelligence and customer feedback.
  • Lead the launch of new products and services across markets, ensuring strong market adoption and client engagement.
  • Provide strategic insight on emerging sector needs and trends to drive future solution development.
  • Attract, develop, and retain high‑performing talent aligned with business priorities, fostering an inclusive and engaged team culture.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and other stakeholders to identify skill gaps, recruit effectively, and ensure diverse and high‑quality hiring decisions.
  • Onboard new hires effectively, embedding Wood Mackenzie’s purpose, strategy and culture from day one.
  • Drive performance through clear goal setting, regular feedback, coaching, and structured career development conversations.
  • Encourage ownership of Personal Development Plans (PDPs) and support continuous growth and career progression.
  • Conduct regular performance and talent reviews, addressing underperformance proactively while recognising and rewarding achievement.
  • Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and compliance across all team operations, including utilisation, policies and engagement initiatives.
  • Lead engagement and retention initiatives to maintain motivation and reduce attrition.
  • Cascade company updates, share insights upward, and act as a trusted leadership voice within the organisation.

We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster a collaborative environment, though this may change in the future. Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones. While this is expected to be a full‑time role, part‑time or flexible working arrangements will be considered.

About You

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in managing Technical Sales or Account Management teams with a proven track record of driving strategic initiatives.
  • Comprehensive expertise across multiple natural resources industry sectors, with deep understanding of sector trends, customer workflows and commercial drivers.
  • Proven track record of developing major clients and establishing trusted advisor relationships at C‑suite level across multiple markets.
  • Exceptionally well connected within the natural resources community with the ability to leverage networks to drive significant business outcomes.
  • Outstanding strategic judgment in resource utilisation and optimisation across complex, multi‑faced operations.
  • Advanced experience in leading cross‑functional collaboration to achieve substantial commercial success.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex situations using multiple sources of information.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at senior levels both internally and externally.
  • Passionate about driving business growth and committed to developing high‑performing teams.
  • Advanced experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce.
