Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in London and surrounding areas for a Cut and Carve / Structural Alterations team member.
The role involves carrying out structural alterations to existing buildings, including cutting openings, forming new structural elements, and assisting with temporary works.
Daily tasks include using specialist tools and equipment for cutting, drilling, and breaking concrete or other structural materials, supporting groundworks and demolition activities, and working closely with site supervisors and engineers to follow plans and specifications.
The role also includes maintaining a safe working environment, adhering to health and safety procedures, completing basic documentation as required, and coordinating with other trades on site to ensure smooth project delivery.
Qualifications
- Experience in structural alterations, cut and carve work, or similar construction roles, with a strong understanding of building structures.
- Practical skills in using cutting, drilling, and breaking equipment (e. g., diamond cutting tools, breakers, saws), and confidence working with concrete and masonry.
- Knowledge of site health and safety practices, including safe manual handling, working around temporary works, and adherence to method statements and risk assessments.
- Ability to read and follow basic construction drawings or instructions, and communicate clearly with supervisors, engineers, and colleagues.
- Relevant construction qualifications or certifications (e. g., CSCS card, NVQ or equivalent in construction or civil engineering) are highly beneficial.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team on busy live sites in Potters Bar and surrounding areas.
- Full right to work in the UK and flexibility to work standard site hours, with occasional overtime where required.
