Our client is a start-up food delivery technology company with a focus not only on how your food arrives but also on its quality.
They are looking for an innovative and commercially savvy Head of Engineering to support and lead their Engineering team. The CTO will lead and oversee the engineering team to develop, enhance, and maintain their technology-driven food delivery platform.
You will be responsible for managing the entire development cycle from planning to execution and delivery, working closely with product, design, and operations teams to ensure their tech solutions meet the highest standards of security, performance, and customer satisfaction.
Please note that this is an equity-only role. There is no salary at this time.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- System Architecture: Oversee the design and development of scalable and secure systems, ensuring our platform is reliable and optimized for growth.
- Product Development: Collaborate with product management and other departments to deliver cutting-edge solutions, leveraging our tag and scan technology for secure food deliveries.
- Technology Stack: Manage and evolve the technology stack, ensuring alignment with business goals and staying ahead of industry trends.
- Performance Monitoring: Implement monitoring tools and processes to ensure the platform is running efficiently with minimal downtime.
- Security: Ensure that all systems and technologies are secure and meet the highest standards of data protection and privacy.
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve development processes, deployment pipelines, and team efficiency to deliver high-quality products on time.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (Operations, Product, Customer Success) to ensure engineering supports all aspects of the business effectively.
- Budget & Resources: Manage the engineering budget, ensuring efficient use of resources while balancing the need for quality and innovation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in scalable cloud-based architectures, backend systems, real-time tracking technologies, and data security best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and compelling manner.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams, with the ability to mentor and guide technical staff.
- Commercially knowledgeable who understands or is willing to learn about the economics of food delivery.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with product, design, and operations teams.
- Take ownership and work within demanding targets.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to develop and execute effective and innovative technical solutions and strategies.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
