As Head Luggage Porter, you will be the first and last impression our guests carry with them — quite literally — as you lead the delivery of a luggage experience that is as seamless, warm, and attentive as every other touchpoint within our hotel. This role is far more than the movement of bags; it is about setting the tone for an entire stay from the very first moment a guest arrives, and ensuring that final farewell is one they will remember long after they have left. You will lead and inspire a team of porters, bringing structure, standards, and genuine hospitality to every interaction. If you take pride in precision, thrive on Relationship Hospitality, and understand that true luxury lives in the details others overlook, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and motivate the luggage porter team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring all associates are equipped, presented, and empowered to deliver the highest standards of guest service at every stage of the arrival and departure journey.
- Oversee the safe, timely, and accurate handling, storage, and delivery of all guest luggage, ensuring items are treated with the utmost care, tracked meticulously, and delivered to the correct location without delay.
- Greet all arriving and departing guests with warmth, professionalism, and genuine attentiveness, anticipating needs — from assistance with heavy items to directions, transport arrangements, or a simple, well-timed smile.
- Liaise closely with the front office, concierge, and other applicable teams to ensure the seamless coordination of guest arrivals, departures, and room moves, maintaining clear communication at all times.
- Manage the luggage storage area with precision, ensuring all items are logged, labelled, and retrievable at a moment's notice, and that the area is maintained to the impeccable standards expected of a luxury property.
- Uphold and instil within the team the hotel's brand standards and values, leading by example in every interaction and continuously identifying opportunities to elevate the guest experience throughout the arrival corridor.
- Connection — You build authentic, lasting relationships with guests and colleagues alike, possessing the rare ability to make every guest feel genuinely known and valued while fostering a spirit of trust, collaboration, and mutual respect across the entire hotel team.
- Guest-Centricity — You understand instinctively that the luggage journey is about far more than logistics — it is about crafting a confident, reassuring, and memorable first impression for every guest, anticipating their needs with precision, and ensuring that every detail, however small, is executed to perfection.
- Influencing — You communicate with warmth, clarity, and adaptability, whether welcoming a VIP arrival, briefing your porter team, or coordinating a complex departure with multiple departments — always ensuring the right information reaches the right people at exactly the right moment.
- Integrity — You operate with the utmost professionalism at all times, taking full ownership of every commitment you make, handling guest belongings and information with care, and consistently upholding the hotel's values and standards in every interaction.
- Drive — You bring exceptional energy, dedication, and attention to detail to every shift, proactively seeking opportunities to elevate the guest experience, pursuing continuous self-development, and approaching every challenge as an opportunity to demonstrate what truly outstanding service looks like.
- Adaptability — You thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure luxury environment, remaining composed and solutions-focused when priorities shift or unexpected challenges arise, and bringing creativity and resourcefulness to every situation without ever allowing the guest to feel anything less than completely at ease.
